We take your privacy seriously. Birth details are among the most personal information a person can share, and this policy sets out exactly what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the control you have over it.

Who we are

Veda Jyotish provides Vedic astrology calculations and readings through this website and our mobile applications. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to Veda Jyotish; "you" refers to any visitor or registered user.

The information we collect

Information you give us

Account details — your name, email address and, where you choose to provide it, your mobile number.
Birth details — the date, time and place of birth you enter to generate a chart. Place of birth is stored as a place name together with its latitude and longitude, because the calculation requires coordinates.
Profiles you create for other people — for example a partner's details entered for compatibility matching.
Messages — anything you send through our contact form or in a consultation with an astrologer.
Payment details — handled entirely by our payment providers. We receive confirmation of a payment and a reference number; we never see or store your full card number.

Information collected automatically

Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps), kept for security and troubleshooting.
Cookies and similar technologies, described in the Cookies section below.

We use cookies for essential functions such as keeping you signed in and remembering your language preference. These are required for the site to work.

How long we keep your data

Account and birth details — for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, they are removed within 30 days.
Generated charts and reports — stored against your account so you can revisit them, and deleted with your account.
Consultation transcripts — retained for the period needed to handle disputes, then deleted.
Payment and invoice records — retained for the period required by tax and accounting law, even after account deletion. These are kept solely for legal compliance.
Server logs — retained for a short period for security purposes.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate, and only to the extent they need it:

Payment processors, to take payment and issue refunds.
Hosting and infrastructure providers, who store the data on our behalf.
Email and SMS providers, to send account and one-time-password messages.
Astrologers on our platform, who see the birth details and messages you choose to share in a consultation.
Advertising and analytics providers, as described above — these receive usage data, never your birth details.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Security

Passwords are stored using one-way hashing and are never recoverable in plain text. Traffic between your browser and our servers is encrypted in transit. Access to production data is limited to staff who need it to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we take these obligations seriously and review them regularly.

Children

Our services are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Our infrastructure and some service providers may be located outside your country. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure it remains protected to a standard comparable to that of your home jurisdiction.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date shown on this page and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
